I told you last week I only read children’s books in April. That’s not completely true.
I also read two great eBooks.
In my suspicion of new technology (Hubs says I was born in the wrong century), I avoided the e-reader for a good while. Now, I am an evangelist for the Kindle lending library via Amazon Prime.
It’s like magic, people. Books on loan for free, in seconds.
Good Read #1
Completely appropriate title, because I am always wondering how Anne “does it:” She writes daily, runs a fabulous blog, home-schools and takes care of her four kids, works outside the home a bit, and cooks for a family with food sensitivities (read: this can be hard).
She’s also one of the most intentional people I know.
Her book is completely relatable, practical, and non-overwhelming. It’s not a call to “do it all,” it’s a flexible roadmap for doing what’s best for you and your family.
And there’s encouragement in it for everyone: for stay-at-home moms working on their passion in the cracks of the day, moms who work part-time, and those who work outside the home full-time. Grab it here.
Good Read #2
Meet the other most intentional person I know: Jacey from The Balanced Wife.
Jacey reminds me of my husband.
When I first met Hubs, I casually mentioned maybe, possibly, if I felt like it, running a mini-marathon–sometime. After we’d been dating a couple weeks, he had already created a training program for me, paid my entrance fee, and joined me in some runs.
Like Hubs, Jacey is a doer, in the best sense of the word.
In Escaping Reaction, Embracing Intention, she takes the popular phrase ‘living intentionally’ and makes it both more important and more practical.
By pointing out what we’re missing when we live a life of reaction, she shows how intention is essential for our relationships, work, and general well-being.
By offering simple strategies for overcoming particular roadblocks, she makes living intentionally totally practical.

Thank You & A Giveaway!
In celebration of A Simple Haven reaching 300 Facebook likes (hey, it’s a far cry from the 30 I started with) and Springtime (!!!) and to say thank you (really, thank you!) for spending time at my little online home–
I’m giving away a copy of book I’ve been eagerly awaiting for months!
The Nesting Place blog has always been a huge source of homemaking inspiration and encouragement for me. She basically had me at “it doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful.”
Wise and liberating words.
Now, Myquillan (a.k.a. The Nester) distills all of her homey wit and wisdom into one lovely (hardback, with pictures!) volume.
It comes out next week and I would love to send you a copy! Just use the Rafflecopter form below to enter to win. Earn more entries by completing more options!
